Wind Turning is not affecting wakes?
Hi,
The issue I see might as well be a misunderstanding. Running this:
from py_wake.deficit_models.noj import NOJ
from py_wake.examples.data.hornsrev1 import V80
from py_wake.site._site import UniformSite
wfm = NOJ(UniformSite(), V80())
sim_res = wfm(x=[0, 500], y=[0, 0],
WS=[[9],[9]],
WD=[[330],[330]],
wd=[270])
print(sim_res.Power)
gives the same Power output as running this :
sim_res = wfm(x=[0, 500], y=[0, 0],
WS=[[9],[9]],
wd=[270])
print(sim_res.Power)
A similar outcome is obtained when using XRSite and a Turning variable. Using a turbine specific input WD
(or Turning
) per turbine does change the sim_res
WD
ouptut variable, but does not affect in any case Power
.
Which it should "physically" in this case, if the wind direction at both turbine location was 330°, the wakes would not affect the second turbine towards the east. So I am wondering, what is the function of using a turbine specific Turning
or WD
, if it has not an impact on wake effects?
Thanks, Samuel
